With its announcement to present a “White paper on an Instrument on Foreign Subsidies”, the European Commission provoked a new debate on possible options for an instrument on foreign subsidies to address the distortive effects of non-EU state subsidies in the internal market. The Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament therefore commissioned a new study to Professor Dr. Marc Bungenberg from the University of Saarland, in which he explores the legal options for an instrument of anti-subsidy investigations and countervailing duties based on section 15 of China’s WTO Accession Protocol. He looks into the circumstances under which this trade instrument can be applied and in which manner. We will launch the study at our event and Professor Dr. Bungenberg will present his main findings.

After comments by our three speakers Wolfgang Mueller, Inmaculada Rodriguez-Pinero and Friedolin Strack, we will open the floor to questions from the audience. The discussion will be held in English.
