There is an increasing recognition that the EU and the US should act together on China. In December 2020, the EU signed an Investment agreement with China, but the European Parliament has recently suspended its approval. At the EU/US Summit in mid-June, there was agreement to consult closely on the full range of issues in the framework of our respective similar multi-faceted approaches to China, including elements of cooperation, competition and systemic rivalry. How far should this cooperation now extend?
