The Greens/EFA Group agreed on a joint position paper on European Security and Defence on July 6, 2022. A key sentence of the paper is “The EU needs a modern, credible and effective security and defence policy, capable of responding quickly to challenges.” The paper advocates a broader concept of security that includes, for example, economic security, advocates strengthening military capabilities, and argues for a quantum leap in the joint development and procurement of armaments.
